Global gas power generation share 2000-2022

Natural gas accounted for 22.2 percent of total electricity generation worldwide in 2022. This was the first year that marked an increase in the share of electricity produced from gas since 2019. As overall power demand increased, so did actual global gas power generation, which reached 6,336 terawatt-hours in 2022.
