Monthly wholesale electricity prices in the Netherlands 2019-2024
In March 2024, the average wholesale electricity price in the Netherlands declined to some 63.38 euros per megawatt-hour, one of the lowest electricity prices in the country since summer 2021. This figure represented a decrease of roughly 40 percent year-over-year. Figures reached a record high in August 2022, at over 447 euros per megawatt-hour. After increasing continuously since 2021, electricity prices in Europe spiked following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
