During the week ending June 10, 2022, the largest volume of Russia's seaborne crude oil export shipments went to Asian countries, at 1.88 million barrels daily. The shipments from Russian ports to European destinations steadily decreased in the second half of March and the first half of April 2022. In June 2022, the European Union (EU) imposed a ban on seaborne crude oil imports from Russia over the war in Ukraine. The ban is to take effect in December 2022. Furthermore, EU countries prohibited Russian petroleum product imports from February 2023.
