The index for the demand for skilled professionals in the fourth quarter of 2023 in Germany was 117 (base quarterly period: 1st quarter 2015 = 0). This is an increase of 8 points from the previous quarter. The shortage of skilled labor in Germany rose continuously after the slump caused by the coronavirus crisis in the first quarter of 2029, but the upward trend in the skilled labor index stopped in the second quarter of 2022.

Included were the most frequented job advertisements from online job forums, daily newspapers, and the business network Xing. In the first quarter of 2018 the previous Hays-Skilled Professionals-Index was put in a new database and was enlarged with to include industries. The reference value of zero is the first quarter 2015.
