Taxes and duties in French automotive industry 2020, by revenue breakdown
In 2020, the French automotive industry paid approximately 49 billion euros as taxes and duties to the French government. Taxes on road-use oil products (eg. motor fuels) accounted for around 71 percent of the total payment, amounting to more than 35 billion euros. Even though road fuel prices were the most significant expense item that year, their prices dropped during the first year of the coronavirus pandemic.
