A survey held among authors in the United States in 2023 found that of the 23 percent of authors who reported using AI in their work, 47 percent were using it as a grammar tool, and 29 percent used AI to brainstorm plot ideas and characters. Under 10 percent used artificial intelligence to generate the text of their work.
