In 2022, the size of the construction industry relative to the gross domestic product of the United States was lower than in 2020. Value added is an indicator based on the enhancement that an industry gives its products or services before offering them to their customers. It occurs when a certain company produces something that has a higher value than the intermediate goods that it used for its production. That value peaked in 2006 at five percent of the GDP.
