Las Vegas is located in the state of Nevada in the west of the United States. Census data recorded the city’s population at over 580 thousand inhabitants. Las Vegas is most commonly known for its gambling resorts and nightlife, but the city is also a hub for business, conventions and meetings. Home to the third largest convention center in the U.S., the Las Vegas Convention Center, the city held over 21 thousand conventions in 2016.
Las Vegas is even more popular with leisure travelers than those who visit for business. There is no doubt that many tourists visit the city for its famous casinos. In 2016, 69 percent of visitors to Las Vegas stated that they gambled while visiting. Las Vegas is by far the largest casino market in the U.S. It is also the location of the largest casino company in the world in terms of revenue, Las Vegas Sands.
