Mexico: opium poppy crops destruction 2008-2017 In 2017, nearly 30 thousand hectares of opium poppy crops were eradicated in Mexico. The land area occupied by poppy crops that were destroyed increased from 22.4 thousand hectares registered in 2016. In the past decade, the eradication of opium poppy has been increasing almost uninterruptedly in Mexico.
