This statistic depicts selected drug brands in the U.S. that are tipped to go generic by 2016. One of these top drugs is Cymbalta (duloxetine), which generates some 3.5 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in the U.S. pharmaceutical market annually. After loss of patent protection a branded drug can be copied by other companies, and sold at a significantly lower price than the original.
