The United States accounted for the largest share of Canada's mining assets abroad (CMAA) in 2022, at 20.8 percent of Canada's total mining assets located outside of Canada. A further 16.3 percent of Canadian-owned mining assets were located in Chile at that time, placing Chile as the second largest country based on Canada's mining assets located abroad.

Canadian mining assets abroad (CMAA) are based on financial accounting standards applied by Canadian public companies and auditors. A total of 1,423 companies with 320.2 billion Canadian dollars in mining and mineral exploration assets were researched to compile the information provided.
