The top five fintech categories that registered growth in number of active startups in Germany from 2019 to September 2021 were investment, accounting, finance, insurtech and proptech. Overall the number of active startups grew by 25 percent, with the highest growth rate observed in the investment sector at 40 percent. During the same period, proptech was the fintech category with the largest number of active startups.
