Revenue of the fast food service industry in the Netherlands 2006-2020
The fast food service industry’s revenue amounted to a total of approximately 2.4 billion euros in 2020. This is a decrease compared to the previous year when the fast food industry reached a revenue of roughly 3 billion euros. Majority of the fast food restaurants in the Netherlands were found in the province of Zuid-Holland in 2018. Approximately 115 fast food restaurants were located in Zuid-Holland, whereas Noord-Holland and Noord-Brabant had over 145 fast food restaurants.
Number of McDonald’s and KFC restaurants
McDonald’s is one of the largest fast food chains in the world, with many restaurants in the Netherlands as well. Most of the McDonald’s restaurants were found in Zuid-Holland with 63 chains, whereas Noord-Holland had 42 McDonald’s restaurants. KFC, another large fast food chain specialized in chicken, had 19 locations in Zuid-Holland. Furthermore, 13 KFC’s were found in Noord-Holland, whereas five were in Limburg.
Leading fast food companies
McDonald’s generated over 810 million euros and therefore was the leading fast food company in the Netherlands in 2017, based on revenues. KFC had a total of 120 million euros, whereas Burger King reached a revenue of roughly 109 million euros.
