Global natural gas liquefaction capacity additions 2015-2023
Annual additions to LNG liquefaction capacities are set to slow in the coming years, having reached their peak in 2018, at approximately 37 million metric tons. Estimates suggest that four million metric tons of capacities are set to be added in 2021, a notable decline compared to the previous year. The decline in expected capacity additions goes hand in hand with a decrease in projected worldwide LNG trade, which is set to grow by some 10 million metric tons in 2021.
