In 2025, around 104,012 asylum applications were submitted in Germany (as of August 2025). Extrapolated to the full year (without accounting for seasonal variations), approximately 156,000 applications can be expected; this would mark a significant decline for the second year in a row, reaching the lowest level since 2020. The most asylum applications came from citizens of Syria, Afghanistan and Turkey.
