When the milestones of adulthood are reached in the UK
Demographics
Recently, we featured a survey which looked at the 'great expectations' of teenagers in the UK, revealing at times a stark contrast between dream and reality. This infographic, using data from the Office for National Statistics, focuses firmly on the reality and reveals the average ages at which people in the UK reach the key milestones of early adulthood. First up is getting a full-time job, which happens on average at the age of 19. This new found financial independence can be expected to lead to a flying of the nest at 23, before the average person starts to settle down and move in with a partner once 27. Then things get serious, with babies - coming before marriage nowadays - and finally the purchase of a home at the age of 34.
