Asians Are the Most Avid Mobile Shoppers
According to a new report by digital advertising company Criteo, 30% of e-commerce transactions worldwide are now happening on mobile devices. The degree to which online shoppers embrace mobile technology vastly differs across different markets though: while Asian shoppers conduct almost half of their online purchases on mobile devices, consumers from the U.S. and other Western markets use a mobile device in roughly one out of four online transactions.
Interestingly, Asian mobile shoppers also differ from others in terms of device preference. While tablets and smartphones roughly account for the same share of purchases in most markets, Asian shoppers almost exclusively use smartphones. This is probably due to the huge popularity of phablets in Asia, which will likely drive up smartphone purchases in other regions in the future as well.
