According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2024, the cost of an electric car was the leading deterrent to purchasing such a car, as stated by 48 percent of the respondents in Singapore. Meanwhile, 35 percent cited the lack of charging stations as a factor stopping them from buying electric cars. The same survey revealed that only five percent of the surveyed population own an electric car.
