Number of recorded common assault offences on children New Zealand 2015-2018
The number of common assault offences against children in New Zealand amounted to 1,191 in 2018. Prevention of child abuse is a high priority for the New Zealand government, as the prevalence of such abuse is relatively high when compared to other developed countries. Despite efforts by both the government and non-governmental organizations, there has been little change in the recorded number of violent offences against children over the past four years across the country.
