Emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) have increased in Africa, from around one billion metric tons in 2010 to some 1.2 billion metric tons in 2018. Under current policies, the projection for this figure indicated that by 2040, CO2 emissions on this continent will reach almost 1.8 billion metric tons.
