Share of population who once attempted suicide in Belgium 2004-2018
Over the last decade, over four percent of Belgians have attempted suicide at least once in their life. The share of the population which declared to have attempted to end their lives was highest in 2008. Nonetheless, in 2018, 4.3 percent of Belgians have tried to commit suicide. Although an error margin exists when calculating shares by using a logistic regression, the presented share of the population who has attempted suicide in Belgium provides a general picture of the situation across the country.
