According to a study from 2020 on the presidential campaign advertising on social media in the United States, the campaign of the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump spent the largest share, namely 20.45 million U.S. dollars, on Facebook and Instagram ads targeting male voters between June and September. The Democratic camp surrounding candidate Joe Biden on the other hand spent the highest amount, namely 15.74 million U.S. dollars, on ads targeting women on these social networks.
