Maradona: career highlights 1976-2010
The professional soccer career of Diego Armando Maradona started in 1976 with Argentinos Junior at the age of 15. Three years later in Japan, the football star won his first big international championship with the under-20 Argentine squad. Although Maradona was already well-known is his country of birth, he became a soccer sensation in 1986 during the FIFA World Cup in Mexico, where his team won the much-sought-after title. In his professional career, Maradona played most of his matches in European leagues.
