Over-consumption refers to a level of consumption that is above normal or average consumption. Beyond a certain threshold, excessive consumption can be a factor in the excessive exploitation of natural resources that are not, hardly, dangerously or slowly renewable. However, as the consumption habits of the French are changing, a good part of them seem to be vigilant about the way they consume. In fact, in 2020, nine out of ten French people over the age of 65 generally avoided over-consumption (compared to a little more than half of the 18-24).
