Tourism spending in top global travel markets 2022

When comparing leisure and business travel spending across the globe, leisure tourism made up the highest share of the total expenditure across the leading travel and tourism markets worldwide. In the United States, which reported the highest total contribution of travel and tourism to GDP, leisure travel accounted for 75.4 percent of tourism spending in 2022. In China, which ranked second on the list, leisure travel represented 84.4 percent of the total travel and tourism expenditure that year.
