Global: relevance of ESG to the credit analysis

As of 2022, over 40 percent of investors viewed economic, social, and, governance (ESG) as being completely integral to the credit analysis. Investors that scored ESGs level of relevance a five on the scale believe ESG plays a prominent role in creditworthiness, influencing credit quality and the ability of borrowers to meet financial commitments. In contrast, eight percent of investors scored the relevance of ESG as a one. This translates to ESG being completely separate from the credit analysis.

The survey group was made up 145 participants from across the US, UK/Europe, Canada and APAC representing a combined AUM of 42 trillion U.S dollars.

Survey participants were asked to score the relevance of ESG in the credit analysis from one to five. A score of one reflected ESG was completely separate from the credit analysis while five met ESG was integral to the credit analysis.
