Major reason to start keeping pet cats in Japan 2023

The leading incentive for keeping a cat in Japan was that owners desired comfort and peace of mind in their daily life. According to a survey conducted in October 2023, over 44 percent of respondents stated that they wanted to feel comforted by their pet cats, whereas one in four respondents wanted to save the animal.
Large stray cat populations are a recurring issue in Japanese municipalities, with the islands Aoshima and Tashirojima being best-known for their large number of strays.
