As of June 2022, the hydroelectric power plants in Gifu prefecture had a maximum output of approximately 4.48 million kilowatt, making Gifu the prefecture with the largest hydropower capacity. In contrast, Osaka prefecture only had an output capacity of about 0.12 thousand kilowatt.
