Food aid is development aid specifically targeted towards countries and regions where a crisis is ongoing or in risk of breaking out. While the total amount distributed from members of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the OECD fluctuated from year to year, it has overall increased since 2000, reaching nearly six billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
