Investments in companies, that were leaders in meeting environmental, social and governance development criteria, amounted to approximately 13 billion euros in 2011 and grew to nearly 16 billion euros in 2013 and to 22 billion euros in 2017.

"Best-in-Class (positive screening) assets typically involve selecting the top share of companies within a sector using ESG criteria. For example, a portfolio manager might restrict the investable universe to the top 50 percent based on an ESG rating screen. Other Best-in-Class methods also exist (e.g. Best-in-Universe, Best-in-Effort)"
