In 2026, the number of monthly active internet users in Russia is projected to reach 114.9 million individuals, marking therefore an increase of 22 million new users from 92.9 million users in 2015. The data was calculated in July 2021 and includes monthly active users of any age who use the internet via any device in the country.

Mobile internet usage in Russia

In 2021, of the 112.22 million internet users in Russia, over 90 percent were mobile phone users that accessed the internet. In case of reaching around 114.9 million users by 2026, as the estimates predict, the internet penetration rate in Russia would mark 73.38 percent in that year. Furthermore, the penetration rate of mobile internet users is predicted to reach 83.95 percent in the same year.

Desktop internet usage in Russia

In 2021, over half of the internet users in Russia employed desktop devices for surfing the web, visiting social networks, and checking emails. However, desktop appliances were less frequently employed gadgets when compared to mobile devices. Namely, the older population used them the largest amount of time of all users' age groups.
