Zara number of workers in Spain 2011-2021
The Spanish branch of Zara, Spain’s flagship fashion retailer and part of the larger clothing company Inditex, grew by roughly 500 professionals between 2011 and 2021. As the latest reports show, most of the employees at the company were hired under a permanent contract scheme, although the share of temporary workers has been increasing over the last years.

Inditex ranked as the world’s second largest apparel and accessories retailer with nearly 30 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, just after the American department stores TJX Companies. Besides its sales revenues, the Spanish group saw a sharp increase in its number of stores worldwide. However, this changed because of the coronavirus pandemic and in 2020, the number of Inditex worldwide decreased for first time in years. Spain was the country that enjoyed most of Inditex stores in 2021, with approximately 1.4 thousand.

Out of the approximately 6.5 thousand Inditex stores globally, just under two thousand were Zara shops, ranking it as the most common establishment of the Spanish clothing company. It will then come as no surprise that roughly 70 percent of the total sales of Inditex were generated through the Zara brand in 2021.
