Cinema admissions to foreign films in Spain 2000-2021
In 2021, movie theaters across Spain sold approximately 35 million tickets to foreign films, up 73 percent from 20.2 million tickets a year earlier. Despite the growth, the 2021 figure amounted to less than 40 percent of the 89-million attendance recorded in 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak. Furthermore, until 2007, foreign movies sold more than 100 million tickets per year in Spain – an unsurpassed number ever since.
