In fiscal year 2018, electric conventional line carriages accounted with around 90.6 percent for the largest share of rolling stocks manufactured in Japan, followed by diesel rail carriages with 5.7 percent. Passenger coaches saw a slight rise in production, reaching 0.3 percent after being at zero percent in the previous year.
