Share of M&A deal value worldwide 2000-2018, by industry This statistic illustrates the global merger and acquisition (M&A) deals value in 2000 and 2018, by industry. According to data provided by the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (IMAA) the highest share of M&A deals value took place in the energy and power industry. In 2000, 10.1 percent of M&A deals value were accounted for by the energy and power industry, by 2018 this had increased to 14.5 percent. The telecommunications industry has seen it's share of M&A deals value fall from 15.4 percent in 2000 to 3 percent as of 2018.
