Share of M&A deal value worldwide that were cross-border 1985-2020
Between 1985 and 2020, the value of cross-border merger and acquisition (M&A) deals accounted for an increasingly greater share of total deals worldwide. In 1985, cross-border deals accounted for nine percent of all deals, which had increased to 36 percent by 2020. This was a decrease from 2018 when the value of cross-border deals accounted for 47 percent of the value of total M&A deals worldwide.
