Tablet's Reign is Being Chipped Away by Laptops
Tablets
IDC forecasted the continued decline of tablets into 2018 with no signs of stopping. Laptops surpassed tablet shipments by around 12 million units in 2018, after tablets trounced laptop shipments by more than 56 million units back in 2014, at the height of their reign. Desktops continue their steady decline with around 60 million fewer desktops shipments in 2017 than there were in 2010.
The tablets sharp ascent in 2010 with Appleās iPad held steady for five years, with shipments of the hybrid phone and laptops falling in 2015. Laptops took a slight hit in shipments while people turned to tablets during that time, with shipments now rebounding as tablets sales have taken a hit.
