Number of Chinese medical tourists South Korea 2009-2022
In 2022, the actual number of Chinese tourists traveling to South Korea for medical treatments rose to nearly 44 thousand, making up the second largest share of medical tourists to South Korea. A total of around 248.1 thousand foreigners came to South Korea that year as medical tourists, one of the lowest numbers in nearly a decade. All types of tourism were affected by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, leading to a large decrease in medical tourists coming to the country. South Korea is a popular destination for medical tourism since it offers advanced medical facilities and technology at lower costs compared to other major countries.
