
Preference of payment method for podcast content in the U.S. 2020, by ethnicity
American podcast users tend to prefer paying directly to the podcaster to access content, a survey assessing popularity of payment method to access podcasts has revealed, particularly among White users, 69 percent of whom gave money direcly to podcasters or shows. Ranked second in preference was to pay to the podcast platform, although this was reversed for users of Black ethnicity, with 47 percent of Black respondents having paid to a podcast network, compared to 41 percent having paid or donated money directly to a podcaster.
