Brazil's food retail sector saw significant growth in 2024, with wholesale and retail channels accounting for nearly half of all food sales. This preference made these outlets the go-to choice for grocery shopping. The industry's total revenue reached a substantial 416 billion Brazilian reals. Among supermarkets, Carrefour and Assai Atacado emerged as the most sought-after chains in the country.

Brazil's supermarket industry in 2024 was divided: while 40% of supermarkets were already selling online, 60% still relied solely on traditional in-store sales. That same year, the majority of Brazilian supermarkets selling online relied on their own websites, while a significant portion partnered with delivery apps. Marketplaces accounted for a smaller share of these online sales.

The company's employee count jumped from 60,120 to 76,024, solidifying its position as the second-largest supermarket chain in the country.
