Travel and tourism spending share in European countries 2021, by type

In Europe, leisure spending represented the highest share of travel and tourism expenditure in 2021. That year, leisure travel played a key role especially in Croatia, Greece, and Luxembourg, accounting for 95 percent of those countries' overall travel and tourism spending. On the other hand, business travel expenditure represented 48 percent of Ireland's total travel and tourism spending in 2021.
