Number of HGV drivers in the UK 2016-2021, by nationality
As of March 2021, there were estimated to be approximately 275 thousand heavy goods vehicle drivers employed in the United Kingdom, compared with 304 thousand in 2019/20, and also the fewest number of HGV drivers in this provided time period. Compared with 2019/20 there are estimated to be 13 thousand fewer UK drivers, 16 thousand fewer drivers from EU countries, approximately the same amount of drivers from outside the UK and EU.
