Civilians killed by security agents in São Paulo 2023, by race
Approximately 34 percent of civilians killed by police in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2023 were of white ethnicity, while the proportion of black people among the total number of deaths during police interventions was more than double. In the state of São Paulo, the black population made up 41 percent of the total, revealing a huge discrepancy between the share of black population and the share of black victims of police intervention.
