Number of connected devices per person in selected countries 2014
According to a survey conducted in 2016, laptops and smartphones were among the most popular devices that people in the Netherlands used to access the internet. 92.9 percent of respondents aged between 12 and 18 years of age stated they had access to the internet through a portable computer, and 98.6 percent of respondents in that category had a mobile phone that could be used to access the internet.
This group was also the most likely to use a games console - such as a Playstation or Xbox - to access the internet. At the other end of the demographic spectrum, laptops and desktop computers were the most popular two methods
Worldwide, the number of connected devices per person is expected to reach 6.58 devices by 2020. This would indicate a total of around 50 billion connected devices worldwide.
