The total number of valid Canadian Nurses Association certifications was 2,201 in 2022. Most of these were issued to nurses in Gerontology - the study of aging and older adults. This statistic shows the number of valid nurse certifications (of the CNA) in Canada in 2022, sorted by specialty area.

In 2022, the methodology used to collect the number of nursing certifications by specialty underwent a change. Consequently, the statistics presented in this table are not comparable with previous years’ outcomes.
Prior to 2019, the certification by specialty statistics included only RNs and NPs as certification recipients. Since 2019, the Canadian Nurses Association has expanded its certification program to also issue certifications to RPNs and LPNs.
