Npower's energy generation profits oscillated over the years, amounting to 103 million British pounds in 2019. Figures peaked in 2010, with a generation profit of 211 million British pounds. Nonetheless, generation profit decreased on the following years, reaching the record low in 2014 with a loss of 188 million British pounds.
The company was established in 2000 as Innogy plc. Later on, the German electric utility RWE took over Innogy and renamed it RWE npower plc. In 2016, RWE split its renewable energy, network and retail businesses into a new company, Innogy SE. Npower Limited was a subsidiary of this new company, while fossil fuels energy power stations became part of RWE Generation UK plc. By the end of 2019, npower Limited was acquired by E.ON UK, and all customers will migrate to E.ON Next in 2020.
