In 2020, Turkey had the highest number of children aged under 15 at approximately 19.2 million, which was followed by the France and Germany at approximately 12.0 million and 11.4 million inhabitants respectively.

The completeness of the demographic data collected on a voluntary basis depends on the availability and completeness of information provided by the national statistical institutes.
The recommended definition is the 'usually resident population' and represents the number of inhabitants of a given area on 1 January of the year in question (or, in some cases, on 31st December of the previous year). However, the population transmitted by the countries can also be either based on data from the most recent census adjusted by the components of population change produced since the last census, either based on population registers.
