Smartphone ownership in Sweden 2017, by model The iPhone was the most common smartphone type among Swedes in 2017, owned by 46 percent of the respondents taking part in a survey on smartphone ownership. Android smartphones were owned by 38 percent, while two percent of Swedes had both an Android and an iPhone. The share of individuals who had access to a smartphone at home grew significantly from 2011 to 2018, from 27 percent of respondents in 2011 to 90 percent as of 2018.

    Smartphone usage is getting more and more popular. A survey, conducted in 2018, found that 97 percent of Swedish people aged between 16 and 25 used the internet daily via smartphones. The leading iPhone apps in Sweden, by number of downloads, were Messenger, Netflix and Drive and Park. They had approximately 170 thousand, 150 thousand and 130 thousand downloads respectively.   Quality and coverage of the network when accessing the internet or data services was the leading feature that Nordic respondents (53 percent) found important when owning a phone in 2017. This percentage grew in 2018, amounting to 63 percent. In addition, 64 percent of respondents in 2018 also said quality and coverage of the network for voice calls was important.
