Current account goods and services balance of payments in Japan 2012-2021
In 2021, Japan recorded a deficit on its balance of international payments on the current account for goods and services valued at around 2.56 trillion Japanese yen, further increasing from a trade deficit of roughly 0.88 trillion yen in the previous year. This represented a the third consecutive year in which imports of goods and services exceeded exports.
