Share of foreign banks in the Benelux region 2017, by country This statistic shows the share of foreign banks in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands as of the end of 2017. In 2017, approximately 94 percent of all banks in Luxembourg were foreign banks.
Most foreign banks in the Benelux region come from neighboring countries. In September 2018, 21 foreign banks in Belgium had France as their country of origin, whilst 24 foreign banks in Luxembourg were of German origin in 2018. In the Netherlands, the top 5 of banks with the highest number of offices all had domestic origins.
